Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) is in place to make public bodies more accountable to the public and protect personal privacy. For the Village of Pouce Coupe, the Act allows the public access to records held and maintained at the Village Office. The Act sets regulations for B.C. municipalities to manage personal and confidential information.

Under the Act, people can request and obtain copies of records while having the right to protect their own personal information.

The Act sets a limit of 30 days for the head of a public body to respond after a request is received, barring any special circumstances where extensions may be required.
